What happens if I don't contact Lowell?

We’ll try to contact you by phone, email and letters. If you get in touch and tell us what’s going on, we can help you find the right support.

If you don’t respond when we reach out, we can’t talk about your options to ensure you meet the minimum contractual payment amount. Not meeting the terms could eventually lead to us applying a default on your credit file even if you are making regular payments

What happens if I can't pay?

We understand how overwhelming debt can be, especially if you feel you can't afford to pay it. But, if you ignore your debt, it can cause a more difficult situation. It's always worth getting in touch and telling us what's going on so we can offer you the right support.

What happens if I don't pay my debt?

If you don’t get in touch to set up a payment plan or tell us about your situation, your account could default. We’ll get in touch if your account is at risk of defaulting by sending you a default notice. If we don’t hear from you within a set time the account will then show as a ‘default’, which will be visible on your credit file for at least six years.

If your account is being reported to the credit reference agencies, we’ll update them with details of your payments. If you fall behind with contractual payments, your arrears will increase which could impact your credit file status and lead to a default being entered. This could impact your ability to obtain credit in the future.

How much do I need to pay?

Call us to discuss your options and ensure you meet the payment terms.

Any notices that we are required to send you by law in relation to your loan agreement will reflect the status of your account based on the contractual monthly instalments and the outstanding balance as per the loan agreement (i.e. the balance before the deduction).

Although we might be allowing you to pay less than is due under your original credit agreement, this is a non-contractual waiver of our rights and the terms of your credit agreement remain unchanged of future interest and charges.

Has my account been defaulted?

No, this account has not been defaulted at this stage.
